Can You Really Make Money With Wealthy Affiliate? (There Are Things You Didn’t Know!)

Today I thought I should clarify some of the issues about Wealthy Affiliate. I have realized that many people still don’t have a clear understanding of how Wealthy Affiliate REALLY works.

I want to give you an honest true picture of what you can expect from this program and decide if it is the right fit for you. I am a member of Wealthy Affiliate, so this is an insider’s view, uncensored, unfiltered. Purely for information purposes.

I urge you to read everything and make an informed decision.

What Wealthy Affiliate Really Is

Wealthy Affiliate is an affiliate marketing training platform. That is their focus. Their training focuses on helping you start an affiliate marketing website in any niche of your choice.

You start your website from scratch with their step-by-step guide. You then build your website by creating content with the help of keyword research and optimize it for high rankings in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).

To make money, you sign up with any Affiliate Program/Network of your choice and promote their products on your website (Affiliate Marketing). The most common affiliate networks are:

• Amazon Associates
• Commission Junction
• Share-a-sale
• Clickbank
• etc.

You can also make money by promoting Wealthy Affiliate itself through their affiliate program.

Basically, you are relying on getting organic search engine traffic to your website. Wealthy Affiliate training DOES include paid traffic methods but they don’t place a strong emphasis on that. That is the only way you should expect to progress if you decide to join their training program.

Let me break this process down

Step 1: Choose A Niche

This is a theme around which you intend to build your business. The word “Niche” may sound difficult but choosing a niche is not hard. It should not be hard. This is the most important step that needs to be carefully thought through before you can actually begin.

Choose a topic that you are passionate about and/or have expertise about – which people are already spending money on!

There’s no need to reinvent the wheel. You don’t have to come up with a new never “heard-of-before” topic. Just be strategic, be super specific so that you don’t face steep competition from lots of other established websites.

A few examples:

The weight loss niche is great because it is evergreen – meaning there will always be people looking to lose weight right?

But as it is “Weight loss is very broad.

What? Yep it is too broad.

In order to make money, you need to narrow down into a sub-niche. How about weight loss supplements? Good idea. You can go further down and focus on vegan weight loss supplements.

Guess what? Amazon has them in stock!

Please feel free to take this example and make it your own if you like. I like giving examples that can actually work.

Remember you are going to be writing/blogging. You will have to write and publish good quality content on a regular basis. My advice is to maintain a 70% – 90% publishing frequency- what is means is that you produce 1 article every 2 days. Sounds too hard?

I agree, when you are just starting out this will sure be difficult but with practice, you can do it. I used to take 7 beautiful days to finish 1 article of 1000 words!

But now I cannot believe that I can actually write 2 blogs in a day.

Publishing regularly helps your blog to grow fast and get trusted by search engines. The result is quick ranking and high chances of making money.

Step 2: Build A Website

Creating a website at Wealthy Affiliate is a very simple process which takes a minute or less. There are over 4000 beautiful themes to choose from.

When you are a premium member (which I highly recommend) you have an allowance of 25 free domain (Siterubix) websites as well as 25 websites on your own domains. That’s 50 websites.

But here’s my advice. In order to be successful, focus on building 1 website at a time until it no longer needs a lot of work. Then move on to the next.

A lot of people get excited about the idea of owning 50 websites and go on a web building spree. Soon they get overwhelmed and can’t keep focus. The result is frustration and they finally give up.

Step 3: Getting Traffic

As I mentioned the primary traffic method that Wealthy Affiliate teaches is free organic traffic or Search Engine Optimization (SEO). There’s no doubt that Wealthy Affiliate SEO methods work.

But it is important to note that the methods work ONLY when you actually follow them. Another thing to note is that SEO takes time and hard work before you can rank highly of SERPs.

What does this mean?

You will have to put in a lot of effort before you can start making money. I would say realistically, 6 – 9 months. Some people see results as quick as 3 months. Heres a piece of great news though.

If you produce high-quality content that engages your readers and provides highly relevant solutions to them, you can make money quicker through social media marketing.

That way you don’t have to wait for search engines to index your content and rank you. I like Pinterest because there is a lot of free traffic. Another strategy is participating in forums and sharing your content “tastefully” – not “spamming”.

Step 4: Making Money

When your website begins to gain search engine trust and ranks highly, your making money possibilities are endless. Here is the sweet part about affiliate marketing…

Remember that hard work I said you will have to put into your website? You do only one task once and if you do it correctly, it keeps paying over and over again for a long time.

For example, 1 product review on your website, with your affiliate links will be read by thousands of people and a percentage of that will buy via your link.

Say, you wrote a review of Amino Diet Guidebook which sells for $89 and you get a 10% commission for every sale. Out of 2000 people who saw your review this month, 10% bought via your affiliate link. That’s 200 sales.

How much will you make this month?

200 X $8.9 = $1,780

Not bad at all right?

That’s just from 1 product. What if you have 10 well written product reviews?

That is why we say that affiliate marketing earns you passive income. That’s how you will make money while you sleep or while you travel the world. It begins with initial hard work first and it takes time.

What Wealthy Affiliate Is Not

• Wealthy Affiliate is not a cash earning site where you click and win instant money
• Not a Multilevel Marketing site
• Wealthy Affiliate is not a job site
• You DONT get paid by Wealthy Affiliate unless you are their affiliate and you have earned commission
• Wealthy Affiliate is not a get rich quick scheme
• Not a done-for-you system. You do everything yourself by following the training
• Wealthy Affiliate is NOT A SCAM!

Don’t get confused by the name. It means they teach you methods that will make you a wealthy affiliate, not a rich affiliate. There a big difference!

Is Wealthy Affiliate Right For You?

This depends on what you are looking for. If you are in a bad financial situation and you need to have money right now, then I would not advise you to join Wealthy Affiliate.

However, if you want to start a long term online affiliate marketing business. You have a few hundred dollars to invest in your education. You can create time to work on building your business.

You are patient and determined to work hard. Then Wealthy Affiliate is right for you. Your online experience is not relevant. Wealthy Affiliate teaches complete beginners and turns them into experts.

• They teach you to build your own affiliate website. A long term business will take care of you for a long time.
• You do things for yourself – that’s how you learn. Eventually, you can sell your skills

Other Things You Should Know

Wealthy Affiliate Ranking

They have their member ranking system. When you first join you will be “Unranked” until you begin taking setting up your profile and starting the training. You may find yourself ranked 290,000 for example.

Your ranking will keep dropping as you progress and participate in the community activities like writing personal blogs, asking questions, live chat, answering questions, helping out other members.

There is no monetary reward associated with your rank. To me, it’s just a status thing, feels nice to rank high. Also, it kinda gives you recognition as a helper. Especially top ranks like Top 200, Top 100, Top 50 and then Ambassador! (Top 25).

The Ambassador status comes with perks from Wealthy Affiliate. Lots of perks (but not money) including an all-expenses-paid to The Annual Super Affiliate Conference in Las Vegas. Whoop!

Attaining this status means you have to help a lot of members, answer questions, chat live, write regular blogs. It’s a lot of work. Now, remember you still have to work on your website! That’s your number 1 priority.

So, you have to manage your time wisely and not get carried away with Wealthy Affiliate Ranking at the expense of your business.

The Training

Wealthy Affiliate training is probably the most comprehensive of all affiliate marketing education platforms. Firstly there are 2 core training courses.

1. The Online Entrepreneurship Certification (OEC) – Teaches general Affiliate Marketing
2. The Affiliate Bootcamp Training course – specifically for those who want to promote Wealthy Affiliate

My sincerest advice is to start with the OEC. Follow it through and complete all the 5 levels. If you feel the need, go for the Affiliate Bootcamp.

For me, this is just a way to give you a feel of how the training is. You cannot build a long term business with this limited training.

As much as it is free for life, I advise you to invest in a comprehensive education that is offered with the premium plan.

And… to be honest, Wealthy Affiliate charges very little compare to the amount of training you receive plus the keyword research tool, website hosting, SSL Certificate, site support, etc.

Absolutely yes!

The key is to focus and follow your core training and pay less attention to the distractions around you. Learn and implement as you go. Don’t take it all in and implement later. You will make slow progress and forget other things.
